软木（英文专业表述：cork；phellem），俗称木栓、栓皮。植物木栓层非常发达的树种的外皮产物，茎和根加粗生长后的表面保护组织。古代埃及、希腊和罗马用来制造渔网浮漂、鞋垫、瓶塞等。中国春秋时代已有软木的记载。生产软木的主要树种有木栓栎、栓皮栎。通常20年生或以上、胸径大于20厘米的植株即可进行第一次采剥，所得的皮称头道皮或初生皮。以后每隔10～20年再采剥，所得的皮称再生皮，皮厚在2厘米以上。
